When I saw that Monty Python movie.
I stopped asking when I realized that it's not necessary for life to have a meaning (in the sense that I think you are insinuating it does).
Life just is. It's just one of the things that happens, inevitably and quite naturally in a universe like ours because all the matter and energy in this universe are bound by the rules of physics and chemistry.
It's not meaningful to ascribe a meaning to it as if it were a special creation of a sentient entity with forethought and plans.
What is the meaning of gravity?
What is the meaning of radioactive decay?

I remember lying in bed when I was about 5 and suddenly understanding that I was human and mortal, and yes this was actually my life, not just like a really long dream. It bothered me for about 2 years, I did really badly in school worrying about it the whole time, then I decided to just get on with it.
