Isn't it depressing? don't you get fed up of making cups of tea? or statements like Oh I could never do that! or you couldn't pay me enough to do your job.
I'm a community care-worker for the elderly and disabled, and yes it can be heart-breaking at times, and yes it can be disgusting cleaning up sh*t but it's also the most rewarding job I've ever had! Mind you I DO get fed up of making meals and drinks for other people, but then I never did like cooking!

I am retired now but I was a Registered Nurse and without exception the reaction was always "I could never do that " !

I tell them I'm of independent means
(i.e. living on Pensions),which often evokes a puzzled reaction.

Must admit, I really don't like people asking me what I do for a living - especially if it's one of the first questions asked on introduction - as if they're trying to define me by it.

oh right, "well i suffer from piles" "heartburn" " pain in my neck" " my stomach hurts" "i cant get pregnant" can you tell me whats wrong with me .....
a nurse is supposed to know all the answers to every illness /pain/problem going lol

I'm a carer so they ask me if its with old people and then i have to explain it with people with learning disabilities
