I have my resume on monster.com and someone contacted me saying I qualified for their "transfer manager" position.

They say that they send me a check and I get to keep 8% of the amount and send the rest in cast through western union.

I first think I heard of something that the checks would be fake, but what if I try waiting until the check actually goes through, or is this just a scam period?

If it is, why does monster.com let them on there and why is this still going on?

SCAM!

What they do is send you a counterfeit cashier's check. You take it to the bank, which routinely gives you immediate or near-immediate credit for a cashier's check. You then send the scammer 92%, and then the bank tells you "hey, that check was a fraud and YOU are on the hook."

You ARE on the hook, too. You are liable to pay them back.

Any reputable company doesn't have to route their banking piecemeal through "transfer managers."

Don't even bother testing it, as you will be nailed for a bad check fee by your bank. It is counterfeit. Period.

Hi,

It is a scam and it maybe one of the one's that Monster.com does not know about it yet. How it works is like this, they give you a check to deposit. Your bank deposits the check, and pays you. You immediately withdraw the amount they are requesting and send it to them. Meantime, two weeks later the bank finds the check is no good and now you are out the entire money on the check. There is no recourse for you.

What you should do is notify Monster. com about the scam and also keep the email and take it to the nearest police station in your area.

They have all ready traced and nabbed quite a few people overseas with this scam, because people like you who report the scam to the proper authorities.

The police may come to your house to down load the information you received so they can trace it.

Trust me on this, I just heard it on the news last week and I live in New York.

Please take my advice and contact the authorities in your area. They are well aware of the scam.

This is a well known scam. You can try and post that check and you will see that it will not go through and bounce within few weeks. You can still return the money to the bank, but the bank can still report you to DA for posting bad checks.

All these internet job sites, including Monster.com, are full of scammers like that.

It is a scam the banks are required by law to deposit funds to your account within a certain time period so it will appear that the check has gone through. After their check bounces the bank will withdraw the money from your account. You will be left with the deficit in you account. You are lucky you checked it is a very sophisticated scam and I only heard about it a week or two ago.

It's a scam and don't cash the check. Once the check has gone through the bank it means you have been took. The bank will make you pay that money back. Check this scam out and most likely it came from Nigeria. DON'T CASH THE CHECK, but take it to your local Post Office so they can trace where it came from. Bet it is from Nigeria.

It's a scam. You send them money, but the check will turn out to be bogus and you're stuck with it. Report it to Monster.com/

This is a scam. Don't accept for money you've never worked for, and don't cash such a check. Many times they want to know you'll work with them... once you send them the rest of the check back, they start charging "fees" for finding work. This was on Dateline.

Contact Monster w/ all the info you have, what this person is pulling is highly illegal!

Scam. You should never have to pay to get a job. Unpost your resume and go into an employment agency but stick to the reputable ones like Kelly Services, Adecco, etc.

I receive similar letters in my inbox all the time. They usually offer to send me a check valued six or even seven figures then I get to keep a certain percentage. Rule of thumb is if it's too good to be true then it probably is.... well it certainly applies here.

SCAM!

It is a scam. I would notify Monster.com about it so they can do their best to kick the scammers off their site.
