I find the Highway of Tears particularly disturbing.

My heart aches for the families. This is not a gender debate, but merely an example of the grieving families can build a monument of memory to their lost family members.

Anything that raises more than eyebrows is a step in the right direction. The trouble is that in the emotional struggle between anger, apathy and angst some of us tend to forget our humanity. We all suffer. Some more than others. Some uncaring individuals think that this is a weakness. Some a badge of honor. Remembrance is the only thing that one generation can bestow upon another that will give credence to the struggle to change the violent nature of Our society.
Had a Man erected a monument to Men, it would be a shining beacon to Us all. Because this honors Women it will undoubtedly be defamed by those men who cannot grasp the simple poignancy of It's message.

I don't know about raising awareness....but it will certainly provide a vehicle for those grieving and feeling helpless to do something they believe will honour those lost.

I particularly like the notion of the sections to discuss strategies...the grieving is important, but there also needs to be a notion of moving toward a solution if real healing is to be done...

As long as the accusatory and demeaning behavior of women on this forum is any indication of the attitudes that women have in general towards men's involvement in the advancement of women's issues, there will be no raising of awareness. Simply because a raising of awareness must first take place in women's attitudes towards the participation of men.

Below, you will find the quote of an email I received from a woman on this forum who questioned the treatment I had received from another woman for a question I posted. Unfortunately now, no one can go back and see the question, because it was subsequently removed.

This was the question, for those of you who might remember!
Why do feminists give stars to anti-feminist questions that serve little or no benefit to women's rights?

I was questioning the idea of rewarding those whose intentions have nothing but contempt for women. And what I got instead, was contempt.

i doubt anyone will visit such a site unless they are already broadly in sympathy with its agendas.

it is pretty - but it is just eye-candy.

not really only those that are in sympathy with it.

other than that I find it offensive for failing to address that both genders commit acts of violence and until it does that can only serve to polarise views, while it does that, will only encourage violence, as it will encourage conflict based on its narrow perspective of placing one gender above the other.

thats just my view.
