Is the wedding durring the day or night?Day and night weddings are two totally different styles. Either way, its quite common, and acceptable, these days to wear a black dress to a wedding. I'm presuming that the bride has met you before, and knew what you looked like when she invited you. It would be a bad host or hostess that made their guest uncomfortable, including expecting them to be uncomfortable in their appearance.

Remeber that the day is for the Bride and Groom. Is this a family member? If so, please consider putting your own wishes aside for the day and honoring the bride and groom in consideration of the family photos. Ask the bride what she feels is appropriate for the day. Let her know how important it is to you that you have your own personality show through, but you want to be sure that you carry on the theme of the wedding for her sake as well. DO NOT WEAR WHITE...that's just for the bride.

Often the invitation will request guests wear a certain color. Check that out, too.

If it's for a friend or friend of the family, or extended family where you will not be in the pictures, consider your own fashion but a bit more upscale and subdued. If black is your thing, and the wedding is in the evening, then the obligitory little black dress" is key. Everyone has one. Make sure it's classy and not showy with graphics or rips or zippers. If you don't have one, go to a vintage store (or even GoodWill and you'll find a great dress for sure. see link below)

My honest suggestion for a friend's wedding is a basic charcoal jumper dress with a black top underneath. Hair and makeup understated, (perhaps a slicked back pony; with subtle eyeliner and shadow, but bright red lips), opaque tights with black pumps. That way you are still showing yourself a bit and honoring the occassion as well.

If it's day...then a sleeveless, short black tank dress with a shawl, bare legs and strappy sandles. Same hair and makeup.

Good luck, and discuss with Mom before you pack so you don't wind up in the hotel with her upset.

Regardless of what anyone says, you can wear dark clothes to a wedding and it not be an issue. You can wear and black cocktail dress or if you think your mom will freak out by the black, why not try a dark plum or dark purple color. If you do not like dresses, you can wear black pants and a dark colored shirt.

Your hair should be out of your face at least and should not have any unnatural colors. If the wedding is during the day, you should go light on the make up. If it is at night, you could wear the black eyeline and dark make-up and this would be approriate.

I have seen some clothes at Hot Topic that you could totally wear to a wedding and not have people freak out. Just don't show up wearing gloves and ripped baggy pants and striped socks!

I know you probably want to be respectful to your mom, but regardless of what you wear, you should not care about what other people or your mom will think of you. Incorporate something in to the outfit that shows who you are. Like, wear you hair back and get a skull and crossbone hairclip or something. Or wear a choker or earrings that you like.

Whose wedding is it? If it is the wedding of a friend of yours who knows how you dress, then wear what you would normally consider your "best dressed" look. If this is the wedding of an acquaintance or a relative who really doesn't know you are Goth; then have a little common decency and tone it down. No one should draw more attention at a wedding than the bride. And, yes ma'am, sometimes we all have to give a little just out of respect and consideration for the event and the persons involved, and that includes you, too.

wear a short or knee length black or plaid dress with a pair of pumps. Dress it up with some accessories that are punk but nothing leather. for your hair maybe add a small headband and just do somethings that is simple. For makeup you can wear eyeliner but dont do red or black to the extreme. You can still dress punk goth without having your mom or the wedding party freak.

Well, Missy, it's nice of you to care enough to ask others' opinion. The first rule of what to wear to a wedding is not to draw attention away from the bride. So, wear a black dress, black leggings, not really clunky shoes/boots, but they can be black. Try to ease up on the severe hair, but you can wear the black nail polish and maybe a dab of the black lipstick and not so heavy on the eye makeup. You are not being untrue to yourself if you tone down your look a bit in respect to the bride.

Probably a purple dress or light-purple some like that, but don't let the punk goth style despite you, just wear what that you look the best, and especially never wear black.

Ask the couple, hun. If you're not close to them, then what I suggest is wearing a sort of corsety dress, if you can find one, but a very plain and simple one.

Go easy on the make-up and accessories. And no striped tights.

Generally most people try to look understated as a sign of respect to the bride. It's her day, and she is supposed to be the most beautiful woman there.

As for your hair, French braids are always very nice.

Difficult unless it's a goth wedding. I'd suggest asking the bride what you should wear, and if it's ok to go as a goth. If she says yes, then start worrying about what to wear.
