he was just great. his motivation, unlike players today, was his love for the game and not money.

He shot the puck like there's no manana from good or bad angles. It didn't matter ,that ding dong was going in the net.What motivated him? What motivates anyone to do a good job? Self-respect, wanting to help the team, and of course $$$$$$$$$.

The WAYNE.
He was his own motivation. Highly focused and goal orientated.
No doubt about it, he was focused on one thing and one thing only, Hockey.
His vision on ice was phenomenal, had a great supporting cast, had the opportunity to play 20 + years relatively injury free.

If you read all his bios and such you will see that growing up hockey was his way to get away from the world around him. This has continued into his adulthood. Also making other people happy made him happy.

Wayne was always talented but when he struggled they would have his dad come with them on road trips and to games to help Wayne feel more inspired.
