I have had to deal with wide, long shoulders my whole life (I am 50!) The secret is to dress to minimize the shoulders.
Always wear V-neck or square-neck tops, sweaters or blouses. This "breaks up" the visual line so the shoulders look smaller.
Also, spaghetti straps are your worst enemy. If you have to wear straps, make sure they are wide (1 1/2 inches at least).

Stay away from high round necklines and turtlenecks that make a "continuous visual line" across the neck. This only emphasizes shoulders. And it goes without saying, stay away from shoulder pads! :-)

You'd be surprised what a great difference it makes when we choose clothes that flatter our good points and disguise all those imperfections that we all see in ourselves.
