some marine fish are more aggressive than freshwater fish !especially to fish of the same species, shape or colour. Maroons are one of the most aggressive clowns so I would not recommend mixing them with other clowns unless you had a massive tank - and you don't, so the best bet would be to get a pair of ocellaris.

It's not a good idea to mix clown species in a single tank - both types are territolial and there would be a lot of fighting between them. Given their personalities and eventual sizes, the maroon will come out the winner.

If you want both, you'll need to set them up in separate tanks. Otherwise, if you just want a pair of clowns, get two of the same species as juveniles and add them together. If you want other peaceful species, you'd do better to add those first, because once the clowns have set up their territory, they'll harass any less aggressive species you put in later.

Do some reaearch on the capacity of the 30 gallon tank because I thing you will reach it with about 2 or 3 fish. That is if you want a balanced tank.

the maroon clowns will batter the ocellaris for sure. maroons have a well deserved reputation as one of the nastiest clowns around.
personally, i wouldn't put more than one species of clown in a tank, unless its very big.
i've worked with a ten foot tank that had a pair of perculas, and a pair of clarkes, and they still beat the crap out of one another!

fake percula clownfish AKA ocellaris clown fishes are "searching nemo" fake perculas are a lot a lot less annoying to save for my section, as percula clownfish opt for more suitable ordinary tanks. also fake percula clownfish (ocellaris) are a lot a lot less annoying to reproduce.
