I wouldn't of worded that question like that. Nothing is really "better" than another thing in science. It all depends on what you want to do. Like up until my freshman year in high school I'd wanted to be a marine biologist or a zoologist. But when i took Earth And Space I in 9th grade it completely changed my opinion on Biology and i loved Earth and Space science more than Biology now. And to top it off i became fascinated by Meteorology so i wanted to be a meteorologist. And now i am in 10Th grade taking both Biology and Environmental science and i love Environmental science more than Biology. So not i want to be either a Environmentalist or a meteorologist. Now i am even thinking about taking Earth And Space II next year because i love it so much last year.
Its all based on opinion and what you like more.

If it is... then why did I switch majors?
All sciences, in my opinion, are fascinating, useful, and worthwhile. I love both biology and earth science. I don't see how biology is more advanced... with Earth Science equipment one is able to use a high-powered laser to drill holes in a ferromanganse nodule from 4 km under the ocean at 10 micron (that's a thousandth of a millimetre) resolution to obtain information on how the trace element geochemistry of the ocean has changed over the last few million years... (like the last 9 million, even!) which could give info about how the earth's climate has changed over that time....
...umm - what's not cool about that? In what way is it not as advanced as biology? So in my opinion - no, biology isn't any better or more advanced :)

They are 2 different branches of science. They are both perfectly good for what each of them deals with. Both sciences are utilizing new technologies that help them advance in the field. A lot of geology is out in the field foot work so there is a little less technology use in the field but there are plenty of new lab technologies being used in both Biology and Geology.
Both sciences are equal. They serve the purposes they set out to. Biology is what you need when you want to know about life and its development. Geology is what you need when you need to know about the Earth and its development. Geologists are also the ones that find all the oil and natural gas we love so dearly.

I am a Biological Studies major with my focus in Ecology, therefor I think Bio is the best.
But without an understanding of the Earth's systems ecosystems would not make any science, The Earth shapes biological life and vice versa.
Life (such as lichen) which you study in Bio was what shaped many things on Earth, such as soil.
They are both interconnected and important, whichever you find more of a passion in is which one is best for you.

More advanced using what criteria? Better using what criteria?
That's like asking if apples are more advanced and better than oranges.

It doesn't matter. They're both boring. I'd choose earth science though
