I had issues with the landlord, We called city inspector to get repairs done, which resulted huge expense for landlord. He is now mad at us and won't give us the money back. We are planning leagal means and trying to recover my deposit money(around $1000) back.

We were so fed up by this ordeal that we finally built own house and moved into it after vacating. Probably I wont get my money back, as I do not have pictures taken before moving in. My concern is the landlord may have ties with gangs and may try to damage our brand new house if we expose the address to them.

Question: Should I expose my new address in my letter currently being sent to them as final notice asking the money? Or should I rent a PO Box and use that? Since I have address forwarding, I may ask them to send the check to the old address (their house)? How about in subsequent legal proceedings? I like the PO Box option best, but do not want to incur the expense if it can be avoided.

I would have your lawyer send him a "friendly" note and have the return address be your lawyer's office.

If they have your old address, then they can find out from the post office the address to which the mail is being forwarded. If you do not want them to get your new address, then have the mail forwarded to the PO Box.

I'm sure that since he has known where you live if he really wanted to harm you it would be done. sounds a lot like paranoia.
even if he did'nt know your address it way to easy nowadays to find that info out especially if your a homeowner. if you don't believe me just google yourself.
if a you honestly believe a po box will keep you from harms way it's well worth the 30-40 bucks to purchase one
The whole thing sounds a little hokey to me

Hon, are you using a lawyer? If so, use his return address in all correspondence, also, if you are in fear of your life and property damage resulting from this landlord problem, then if he shows ANY propensity towards violence and you can prove that anything was directed toward you or yours get yourself a restraining order against him (a temporary one is simple to get and probably a good idea in light of all that has transpired). Good luck!
