I was thinking of putting stain remover on it and letting it soak. I dont know which one to use or if it will help. does anyone know?

Unless it says otherwise, the marker should not be permenent. using a colorsafe stain remover, or just a little or your regular detergent, on it and soaking, then washing, should do the trick. I would scrub the area a little with a nail brush too, to get the remover deep into the fibers before washing.

I think it might depend on the kind of highlighter and what's in it. This happened to me once on a white blouse; i didn't think it would come out, but it came out in the regular wash. I would try one of the stain sticks that lets you leave it on for a few days, then wash it.

Try some rubbing alcohol...
