I don't know what's wrong with me, but I've wanted to cry so many different times and can't. All my family can, but I can't, I've never been able to cry. I wanted to cry when my little nanny, little grampsy, aunt ruth, uncle john, and uncle danny died, but couldn't. I've wanted to cry, when my brother james, and my sister mary got married, but couldn't. I have wanted to cry during really sad parts of a move and can't. I've tried crying when I'm upset, and even hurt at times, but cannot cry. All my life I've never been able to cry and I don't understand. Someone please help me. Why can't I cry?

If you feel the emotions of sadness and feel like you should be crying then there might be something wrong with your tear ducts, my sister has the same problem, no matter how sad she is she just cant cry, the only time that tears come out is when she yawns.Go see a doctor.

I agree with the first response maybe you just can't physically cry. The test they use for testing your tear ducts is so simple, a little unnerving but super simple and it doesn't hurt. I've had mine tested. And if you do have a problem with your tear ducts then they just built you knew ones. No big really.

But see an Ophthalmologist which is an MD or DO and you need to see a tear duct specialist because a in a big practice they all specialize in different things.

Ask your mother if you cried when you were a child. You'll know then if you can physically do it.

Some people deal in different ways with emotional times or pain. Some cry. Some get quiet. Some get that knot in their throat. Just because you want to cry doesn't mean you will. It doesn't make you a freak or abnormal if you do or you don't. It just makes you you. I've found I don't cry very often. Something has to severely upset me to get it going - and it's certainly not when I'm thinking I should. It just kind of happens.
