If you are old enough to remember the days of BOBBY Clarke, Ron Hextall, Dave Shultz and that crew..you might think so. Head shots were a specialty back then. I still remember Hextall using his stick across the back of a player's head...made me sick to see that. I used to love Bernie Parent, but stuff like that always had me fuming about the Flyers. I wonder just how much influence BOBBY (don't call me Bobby..it's Bob Clarke) has behind the scenes. Until that 'gentleman' has nothing to do with the Flyers, in any capacity..I will not watch that team. It's one thing to be physical or even to pick a fight with another player..but to head hunt/cross check to the face...should be gone permanently. It's only a matter of time before someone is killed.

In a sense, they returned last year to win the cup. Last year the Ducks were by far the most physical and intimidating hockey team. They led the NHL in fighting majors by a wide margin and played some throw back dirty hockey.
This year however, the NHL is taking a stronger approach because Gary Bettman thinks that he is Mr. Goddell of the NFL. Therefore, guys will have to try to think twice but in the heat of the battle it is easier said then done.

I guess they have to try something.
The Bobby Clarke (can you imagine calling someone in their 50's Bobby) era of management was one of the all time complete disasters in NHL history. How he managed to stay around for all these years is a complete mystery.
They will be a better team this year but a long way from attaining another cup.

Actually, they've never really went away. What's this, the 39th version?
