use local resources.

Start off by assigning local natural areas (and simply public places) to small groups to create presentations or imovies on local environmental status. Do you have public places that need cleaning up? What is the status of your lakes/parks/natural areas? How is your water supply? What does the local recycling effort consist of? Each of these items can be then presented to your local boards/schools.

view inconvienent truth with a critical eye. assign fact checkers. While it is in the public eye, it is interesting to see any discrepencies. (nothing found changes that we all recognize the need to improve)

Sponsor an engineering fair for a local elementary school. Best use of recyclables or best invention wins.

good luck, looking forward to seeing other peoples ideas! good question=!

create a compost pile outside, have a recycling challenge between classrooms, take a fieldtrip to a local landfill, take a field trip to a zoo or garden, take a walk around your school and try to classify different plants, make educational brochures about energy conservation and environmental concerns, etc.
