I would say the Mississippi or the Missouri just because of their size. Largest rivers in the country (and continent, i think). I live on the missouri and lots of people die on it each year. so probably one of those two

Look up the biggest floods and riverboat sinkings in US history, and you should have a big clue.

The Conemaugh River (Johnstown Flood) is probably a major contender, but I'd guess the Mississippi is still ahead.

I say the river that starts from Niagra Falls, Canada/New York.
