I think a person's life is theirs and they have the right to terminate it. I also believe that the vast majority are in fact doing so by taking massive amounts of caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Just because a person takes years to achieve the deed, they still take their life.

that is a good question. I have watched people die of cancer and that is a very bad way to go so if there is no cure for what u have and u r going to die anyways then why not. But if it is just because u can't handle life any more than NO that is not the answer. There is so many ways of getting help these days that a person should use all of the resources that r available to them. Life is short the way it is don't make it any shorter. Plus the person who does this might of ended their problems but they have opened up a whole can a worms for the people who loved them.

COPE!?!
With my life and the people I have been around,.. it's not just,.. " Oh, I'm alive and depressed. I can't live with this any more."
Things aren't just Mental Illness / Depression.
I have been isolated, starved, tortured, and beaten. When you are too weak to get up because your captor won't let you eat or talk to loved ones, you pray for death to make this misery stop.
There are many reasons someone would want to commit Suicide. Some are they ARE GOING TO DIE,.. very soon,.. but until they do they cannot function,.. they are only in pain day in and day out.
This all aside,. I should tell you there are Natural ways the mind deals with the problems that should kill someone.
There is a range of disorders that include Multiple Personality Disorder (that's not the current name for it) & Post Trumatic Stress Disorder. A scale has been made and you can go from one disorder to the other the more you are abused or placed in a Life or Death situation.
According to Psyches and their school books. These are the people that survive the situation. Anotherwards, the people that don't develope these for their survival DO END UP DIEING.
So if someone has Depression or is Suicidal,.. there is the posiblity they have already Survived something that was supposed to Kill them. I would like to note some Medications create Suicidal thoughts or someone that will attempt Suicide. Ritalin does this because it destroys some Chemicals so the person can not develope mentally, chemically, and physically properly. Some of the effects of the lack of these is certain pleasure does not give those signals of pleasure and if you are in a situation where you can kill yourself, your unable to produce signals to tell you to stop. There are other things lacking, but the damage makes life not the to the fullest for you chemically, emotionally, and some times physically. They then give them meds in their teens that destroy the bodies ablity to do more things, and then another in the early twenties to destroy more things... these are given to Help or Cure their Mental Illness that is actually caused by the Absense of Chemicals their Body can't produce because the Medications destroyes them,.. there is another in the late 20's and another in the 30's. It all depends on if a Psyche catches your problems and puts you on Meds. All the meds are destructive. So you are MORE LIKELY to Commit Suicide because of these Meds,.. based on lack of Chemicals and undeveloped parts fo the brain. The Meds only do more damage but others enjoy you not being able to respond properly to things. Some times these things are abuse. So Ritalin is covering up abuse and makeing the person more submissive to their abusers will.
[[[ I want everyone to read this to Learn Something that contradicts Stereotypes. Multiple Personality Disorder and Schizophernia are NOT THE SAME THING. Schizophernia is passed on,.. you are in a way born with it. Multiple Personality Disorder is a Survive Mechenism you only develope from certain stress, abuse, or life threatening situations (maybe the list can be expanded). Though genetics can effect how likely you are to have this kick in and how quickly it can develope.. it is not something that you are "Born With",.. if your life is NOT Threatened to an extent this is required then you will never have Multiple Personality Disorder. ]]]
I see far too many people on Y!A in areas that don't know the two are different things and will talk as they are one and someone must have both. A Person with Schtizophernia is probably less likely to get Multiple Personality Disorder but has the same odds as you. A Person with Multiple Personality Disorder may never get Schitzophernia but could if it is geneticly predetermined. The two are UNRELATED.
As for if there are situations one should be allowed to take their life. Yes,.. there are times this is called for. Your only other choice may be abuse or a painful lingering death. I would not say whenever you are Suicidal you should commit Suicide. There is a difference between certain death and just being Suicidal. If you were kidnapped, raped, and poked by shreds of glass every day by your captors for entertainment, while given drugs and so little food you are too weak to fight or escape. Go ahead and commit suicide if you get enough power/strength to. These days the money that would help find you is funding a War so you are less likely to be helpped.

I'm a Christian, and so, for me, suicide is very wrong. We don't own our lives. God does. But that's only my mentality as a Christian.
But for others unlike me, they think that suicide is the only way to escape life. And I don't blame them. Life is hard. And to be honest, before, I also thought about committing suicide, but I couldn't. And I wasn't even thinking about God, I wasn't thinking about anything besides fulfilling that deed and that feeling of anguish.
I've also learned that suicide's meaning is different from each and every person. It could be escapism for some or saving of face for some.
But the bottom line is, you end a life, wherein, there is always hope and you just didn't recognize it.
For me, at that time, when I was attempting, I was in a dreadful state. But I changed for the better, and I'm so different from who and what I was before. Things just turned out well even though I wasn't really expecting much.
THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE. SUICIDE SHOULD NOT BE AND NO LONGER BE AN OPTION.

The only time you should think about suicide is when you are going to die anyway, in a more gore, painful, slow, tormenting way. But, it's still wrong, two reasons;
1, if you believe in the hereafter, than, you know when you die, heaven is not what you will get, expect a severe eternal punishment in hell.
2, if you don't believe in the hereafter, than, it's useless to take your only life away, judging from the fact that cutting your life short, will just induce sleeping 6 feet under the ground, waiting to be consuming by all sorts of insects or what ever.
So no matter what, whether it's debt, love, embarrassment, or you are just bored, suicide is never the answer. it's a lose-lose situation.
Instead just, try to 'cope' with whatever difficulties you are facing and before you know it, things will be better. I think so....no scratch that, I know so......I think I know so.....no I know I know so.

suicide with no explanation hurts everyone; only the truly selfish ends their own life without taking into consideration those they leave behind. however, a terminally ill person with absolutely no hope of survival could gather the family around and talk about this issue and then when the time is right, do what that person wanted to do.
i am catholic and of course for me suicide is never an answer; however, seeking the absolute truth about what will make my remaining days bearable and relatively pain free is essential. the last breath will come in its own time; and we weren't put on earth to always experience only the happy times

Our 20 year old son died by suicide...this is a short excerpt of his suicide note/will:
''To Mom and Dad.
My hands are shaking as I write this...
I want to cry so badly.
It's not my fault that my body is like this.
The constant pain, strange feelings, nervousness,
uneasy-feelings, toothaches, dizzyness, nausea,
etc. It's too much to take. 5 years...
What kind of a god would allow a person to
suffer for so long?
I know you will miss me,...''
He was right, I miss him galore, my whole family does....the tears are pouring down my face right now...the tears I have cried since he left this planet almost 3 years ago would probably flood my home...sorry but I can't continue with answering your question.

I "lost" a brother that commit suicide.
At first I feel destroyed and sad but in time I accept that each person is the owner of his life. I respect the decision and I still love my brother.
If angels exist I have one.

No. Life is a series of ups and downs.
Cope thru not being able to cope. It's how we all are made.

I think they should try extremely hard to find new ways to cope before even thinking about suicide.Suicide is a drastic measure that i feel is completely unnecessary.Although, some people find it hard to deal with everything life throwing at them, cant find out how to make lemonade with so many lemons and no sugar.I'm not pro-suicide but people think differently. But if your thinking about i suggest that you don't!!
