One of Bodem's other children told police that she thought Bodem was buying shoes online when Bodem was downstairs with them, because Bodem had broken a pair. The child said she thought that Bodem had been away from the tub for about 20 minutes and that they had all heard Cecelia and her brother laughing in the tub. The child told police that they heard Cecelia crying and that shortly afterwards, the son came downstairs and said, "Mom...."

This lady got 2 counts of manslaughter.
Do you think her sentence is justifiable?

well, the category name pretty much says it all. to be honest, i have mix feelings about her sentence. on one hand, she killed her child because she was buying shoes online. what kind of mother leaves a baby and another young child in the bath tub unsupervised? postpartum depression does not excuse this. so, how much does a life cost? if she's convicted she's ONLY going to receive 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines. frankly, i don't think this is right. on the other hand, i feel for her because the death of her child is always going to be haunting her. she obviously has issues. her mother even reported her to authorities and yet nothing was done. when all is said and done, the courts sentence will never come close to the hell she will go through for the rest of her life.

yeah. shes a total idiot..its totally her fault and she was very careless.. But there is no say as to what the little brother in the tub was doing while this baby drowned? First they were laughing, then the baby was crying..the mother should have attended to them immediatley..If the other children heard her cry, Bodem did too...I think the little boy had a part in it.. sad to say and its horrible to even think but its very possible... she should have been there...she deserves what she gets and the little boy needs to be questioned extensivley

two counts of manslaughter, but only one child died, right? i'm confused.
all parents can be neglectful at times. it is hard to take care of three children alone. but leaving them alone in the bath is really just plain stupid.
i can sympathize with people that are stupid, but her stupidity doesn't excuse her from murder. i hope she can pull her life back together while she is in prison and come to terms with the result of her negligence. what a freaking miserable thing to happen. a dead baby and a prison term. so tragic.

That is just disturbing . Let me see care for my child so they wont drown or shoe shop Hummmmm?? What a sad excuse of a mother. So Stupid.. Some people just should not be parents.

why is it that people cant be real mothers anymore? who would leave kids in the tub to get shoes? this lady should sit in jail and never see her kids again. this is horrible, some would say it happens so much that it has lost its shock value.

Her neighbors and mother all tried to get help for her . She's mentally ill and never should have been alone with her kids . If the heads don't spin - nobody can force them to get the help they need apparently .

Oh my God, I never left mine till about 5 in the bath, and even then and now, I call up "are you OK" every 3 Min's, if they go quiet I run up.
Shoes? How horrendous!

Is she stupid or something? shoes or baby? which is more important? hmmmmmmmm. BABY! Duh if anyone is crying go check it out. It is not that hard to go run and check something out for two seconds and save a life.
