Find a new one first, then quit

The best thing to do is start looking for another job. Once you've found one, give your current job 2 weeks notice and then work out your remaining shifts. Any new employer should respect your wanting to give your current job 2 weeks notice as they would expect the same.

Try not to be negative about the current job. Focus on the skills you've gained from the job rather than what you hate. For the new job, just say you're looking for something more satisfying, more challenging, better pay, or better hours.

While you may not like your next job any better, try not to make a habit of jumping from job to job. As a manager who does hiring and firing, I will usually reject an application that shows a pattern of leaving jobs after just a few months.

If you hate your job, yes, find a new one first. But before you do, ask yourself WHY you hate this one. You are always going to like your leisure time better than your work, but that IS life. We all have those feelings, but few of us just junk a job because we don't like it. The best way to quit is honestly: "I have found a new job and I'll be leaving in __________( an appropiate number of days.)

Find a new job first and then give your current employer two weeks notice as common employment etiquette. Use a temporary employment service to help find you a new job. Then you can test out different employers before going permanent.
