mark h is wrong , socialism is out of controll in latin American countries becouse they are vastly disillusioned (the poor, the majority of ppl) at their former governmets who have served the elite instead of thier people in need. Im a democracy lover, but I think that the corruption in latin American democratic nations has led to socialism , where the likes of Hugo Chavez try to win over the ppl with money and promises (temporarily) so they can stay in power. This is very sad when people have to give away the property they worked for so hard! I think the
United States should of given more aid to theese countries, to stop them from abandoning democracy, now the poor find new hopes in socialism (sad sigh) becouse it seems that democracy has abandoned them.

There is no such thing as pure socialism or pure capitalism, thank god. Hugo Chavez has done a lot for his country's economy, so I'm sure he'll be around awhile or until the CIA kills him.

Because hugo chavez is spending tons of oil money on everybody so they will keep him in power and he can build influence. This does not help humankind achieve its full potential unless you enjoy a society of slackers that sell their sole to the government.

"Sharing" is not the answer. Socialist/communists use the term "sharing" to confiscate other peoples property. People who worked and payed for it. Socialism is out of control in hispanic countries because of their racial hatreds and jealousies.

Because the dominant right-wing wealthy failed to share.
The elite see themselves as somehow better than the poor.
i.e. God has rewarded them so they must be deserving of it.
Wherever there is such inequity between rich & poor,
you will see this kind of unrest & disatisfaction.

Because the people got fed up with the ultra right-wing governments. That's why liberal types are so important in our society. They ensure that the country stays grounded and doesn't forget the poor.
