The biggest benefit that I can think of, is a way one can learn from and recover from his/her own mistakes.
A person who is honest with him/herself can evaluate the situation, determine where he/she went wrong, take full responsibility for the mistake, then come up with the better stragegy for the next time. He/she can go on with a full knowledge that he/she can do better next time. There is a definate closure to the issue.
This is in contrast with people who blame others for the mistake and learn nothing from it. He/she has no way to prevent the next identical ocurrence as he/she doesn't know the mistake he/she made that caused the problem in the first place. Worse, he/she will stay angry for a long time, as the other person whom blame was placed, will certainly never apologize for the mistake he/she did not make.

If you are totally honest with yourself, it will be hard for someone to offend or upset you (you will know what is true, and be able to stand up to anyone that says something wrong).
It will be good for your confidence, and you will also find it a lot easier to ask for help when you need it, because you will know your own limits.

The lucky ones are those who are able to pull the wool over their own eyes and maintain a bit of naive innocence about themselves and the world. Where's the benefit in being truly aware of all your own flaws and misgivings? Wouldn't the lucky one be the one who thinks they're absolutely fantastic? Yes you might say if you know about your flaws you have the ability to fix them- but that being said, how often do we actually manage to fix our flaws? Or to even embrace them? I'd rather be obvliviously happy.

that person is normally always lucid on what is happening to her, and gets to react maybe faster or at least more thoughtfully than someone who lies to him or herself...
