Well technically it is only U.S. teams, but if you think about it you also have players who play on these teams that are from all around the world. You have Matsuzaka from Japan and David Ortiz from the Dominican. Players from China and Puerto Rico. So technically it is only U.S. teams, but we do kind of represent the rest of the world in that way.

It is called the World Series, because players from all over the world take part in it. Look at the teams still in the playoffs. Everyteam has players that come from all different countries. It is not just american players playing in the World Series. The World Series is won by the best players IN THE WORLD.

Because of history and tradition. The World Series started in 1903, when only the US really played baseball.

BTW, why is the Mr Universe contest called that when only body builders from Earth are eligible?

Baseball is a sport originating in America. Baseball, American football, and basketball all began their "World Championships" when little to no one played the sport outside the U.S. . Since the U.S. still overwhelmingly dominates in these sports, the title of "World Champion" could be considered valid, for the most part.

I'm no georgraphy major but I believe the Toronto Blue Jays have played in the world series, and last I checked they play in Canada.

Why is the winner of the NBA Finals also referred to as the world champions. Americans like to think they are better then everybody else, that is until like in basketball, we discover we aren't anymore.
