Ok. Seriously. I spilled sauerkraut in the back of my minivan. I can not get the smell from the carpet. I see tons of things that vinegar will get out of carpet, but what can you use to counteract the smell of vinegar? I'm not taking the carpet up as best I can to get under it. Please help!

I use vinegar to clean my carpets all the time. The smell will go away on its on if you let the carpet air out. We just open a window to the room I'm cleaning and let it air out for about 3 hours. I would give that a try. If not, then put baking soda on the carpet and let it sit for about 20 minutes, then vaccuum it up.

Try some baking soda or febreeze....maybe carpet fresh. Have you tried to shampoo the carpet in your minivan? That would probably be the most effective. Or go to the automotive section at Walmart and buy a product called Ozium...it'll neutralize it.

It is probably soaked into the padding under neat too so I would do a mixture of baking soda and water. Let it dry then vaccum.

I would suggest calling your local janitorial supply store and see what they suggest. I have also used a product called oda ban. It is a cleaner used for everything. Some hospitals use it and schools. It is a good getting rid of odar and kills germs too. I have seen this product at Wal-Mart and Sam's' Club. I use Oda Ban in my own home.
