i just found a bunch of coins in plastic and i was wondering if they are even worth anything, i don't think they are but i would like to have someone else's opinion, they are dated - 64,65,66,66,67,68,68,70,71,72,74,76,77,78,79,81,82,85,87
,93,96,96,97, and 98, most of them have pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins in them, are they even worth anything or just the value of the coin itself?

A collector of coins would look not only at the date but what city the coin was minted in. There is a small initial by the date that tells this. The amount of coins produced and the condition is what makes them collectible. If you find any wheat pennies with an engraving of wheat on them, these are collectible-they are called "Wheaties" I know this because my husband collects coins. You can also buy guides that tell you what the different coins are worth at a coin shop or they could give you an estimate of what they are worth.
Also there may be a local coin club in your area -the people in these clubs are more than happy to share their knowledge with others.Let me know what you find out. Clarabets

It sounds like you have a bunch of proof sets or mint sets. A proof coin has a mirror like finish and have an S on the coin as a mint mark. Mint sets have 2 sets of coins one from Philadelphia and one set from Denver. The sets will have a small medal with them with a P or D on it. Since I am not sure which you have, I can not give values. The mint sets are in a soft plastic container and the proof sets in a hard case except for the,65, 66 and 67 where proof sets were not made but special, mint sets were. I would need to know which ones they are to give you values but they are worth more than face. The 1964,65,66 and 67 1/2's are silver. The 1970 1/2 is a scarce item.

If they are protected in plastic they were probably from someone's collection. Many collectors try to collect all years just to complete their collection so some may have little value, but from some of those years, coins in good condition could be worth something, particularly those from 64 and any older. Take them to a coin shop for an appraisal.
