I would say it is. I'm 14 and I just found out about that subject like a month ago.

I believe if you're old enough to have a question, you're old enough to hear the answer. Otherwise curiosity gets to you, you ask your friends who don't REALLY know, and you get a LOT of misinformation.

Now HOW to explain those things to a ten year old? That depends on the 10 year old, so you're pretty much on your own there. Just be honest, as technically correct as you can, and pass the buck to educational books or web sites if you have to. But give it an honest try first.

Are you asking as a parent who is concerned because their 10 year-old knows these things?

If that's the case, I'm guessing he/she has only learned the terms but doesn't really know what they mean. There's no need to get into a lengthy conversation about sexuality, but the child is probably old enough for the basics. And it better to get correct information from you than to get whatever kids are talking about in school.

Yes, a ten year old shouldn't be concerned about what they are.

Ask your mom if your a girl, ask your dad if your a guy. Tell them you have serious questions about the birds and the bees. If no one will answer ask older relative---not kid friends who may well have wrong information. I believe curious kids deserve an answer.

If you are curious at that age then you deffinately need to know about sexually transmitted diseases. 10 is way too young!!!
