first you do 15 / 3, which is 5, then you do 4 x 2, which is 8, then you do 5 + 8, which is 13. So 15 / 3 + 4 x 2 = 13:)

Order of Operations is my favorite!!!! Ok remameber this word: PEMDAS
P= Parentheses
E= Exponents
M= Mutltplications
D= Division
A= Addition
S= Subtraction
15/3 + 4 x 2
First do 15/3 which equals 5
5 + 4 x 2
Next multiply the 4 and the 2 which equals 8
5 + 8

This is an order of operations problem. There are three main rules to remember for order of operations. First,
1.Perform any calculation inside parentheses.
2.Perform all multiplications and division, working from left to right.
3.Perform all addition and subtractions, working from left to right.
For this problem there are no parentheses, so let’s do the division and multiplication from left to right. You first have 15/3, which is 5. Then you have 4x2, which is 8. Last step, addition/subtraction Five plus eight is thirteen.
15/3+4x2
=(15/3)+(4x2)
=5+8
=13
If you need help remembering the rules, you can remember the saying "Please excuse my dear aunt sally".
Each first letter of each word stands for what operation to do first: parantheses, then exponents, then multiplication/division, then addition/subtraction.

it looks like you're learning ORDER OF OPERATIONS, I suppose.
You can remember the mnemonic :
please excuse my dear aunt sally.
stands for parantheses, then exponents, then multiplication/division and finally addition/subtraction.
so do 15/3 = 5. and 4 x 2 = 8.
then finally the addition:
5 + 8 = 13
~ take care
