If so, how can you learn how to do that?

You could not sleep standing up, because you would fall. If you are talking about leaning against something, it may be possible, but only with support. When you stand, all your muscles work together to make it possible, and when you sleep they all relax, so without support no.

Sleep Standing Up

Actually my father worked in the military and he claimed to have witnessed one exhausted soldier who had fallen asleep while standing. After a long period of sleep deprivation he had been working a waxing machine and had actually fallen asleep standing and with his arms locked in a repetitive movement of pushing the machine back and forth and was snoring loudly. I'm inclined to believe the man was faking it, but he claims the man really had fallen asleep while standing.

i really don't know, but maybe you can try when you are really tired, put your back flat on a wall and try to sleep, ask someone to tell you if you fell down, or videotape yourself. I dont think its possible to sleep standing up, but you never know! try it!
