Some do. The size of the disk supported depends on the BIOS. You might check to see if there is a BIOS upgrade available.

Hopefully your new harddrive will come with a software installation disk. This will help the BIOS in your computer to 'see' the harddrive. You may have to partition your harddrive into two partitions, of 80, or 100GB's as some BIOS'es have a hard time 'seeing' anything bigger than 132GB's. Your motherboard BIOS is what supports the harddrive, not the other way around. I suggest upgrading to 512MB's of Ram, you'll be much happier. This is, of course, if your motherboard will support 512. I upgraded an old eMachines T1090 to 512MB's even though the mobo said 256 was the max. Be careful, doesn't apply to all! You could be sittin' around with a 'stick' of Ram, you can't use. I suggest using Crucial.com's Crucial System Scanner to see EXACTLY what ram your computer will take,(size, how many, what kind, etc.) Check out this page for partitioning: http://www.bootdisk.com/

Weather or not your PC will support a larger hard drive is dependent on the bios in the motherboard. Most older systems can support larger hard drives if the bios is updated (flashed) . Determin the manufacterer and model of your motherboard then go on-line and see if there is a bios update available for it and follow the directions given on the web site EXACTLY. (You can kill a motherboard if it's done incorrectly)
