So i'm in 8th grade and I want to play a sport. I'd kind of like to play basketball but I'm only really good at shooting not actually playing. Another problem with basketball is that all of the popular girls at my school live near me and play basketball and would be on my team. fun? doubtful... I'm nervous to try a sport because I'm just not good and everyone (not everyone, I know) who is still playing sports are already good and have played for a while. Any suggestions?

Yes. if you like basketball, then play!!!!
it doesn't matter if all the popular girls are on the team.
don't let that intimidate you!

the same thing happened to me. last year i really really wanted to play tennis but i was not sure if i should play at school b/c im not very good (but i love tennis).
i was also nervous about the popular girls thing.
but i took the risk and joined my schools tennis team.
all the girls turned out to be really nice.
i made more friends.
im getting better at tennis.
im having fun.

if you really want to play basketball, the do it.
dont let anyone or anything stop you!

GOOD LUCK:D

I was never good at sports. My parents had me try out for all of the teams and, while I made the teams, was never good at any of them. Luckily for me, I was never all that interested in sports, so after trying them all, I opted out of all of them. (I grew up in a very small town, all we had were basketball, cross country running, and track).

I filled my time with all the other stuff. Pep Band, Stage Band, Student Council, the dreaded Chess Club, drama club, speech club, 4-H, and many other non-sport activities. To be honest, I think these activities prepared me better for life after school than sport would have. YMMV

If you're in 8th grade, don't worry about how bad you will look, you will learn later on that whatever you do in middle school, and even high school in most cases, only builds your personality and character. Don't be scared, go out and try different sports - tennis, swimming, football, wrestling, badminton, soccer, whatever it is, it's worth a try.

Just pick a sport and go for it. Practice. Try out. Its fun and good exercise. Some of my best memories from high school are sports memories. Your coach and practice will help you get better.

OMG! I have that same problem-I'm in 8th grade and all the popular bitches play bball. I joined the cheering squad this year and that was really fun--and I'm not coordinated at all! Try cheering, or skiing since they're easy to learn!

the best sport would probably be cheerleading! Sometimes you dont have to be real flexible to be in it, just as long as you have some really good cheer skills, and a loud voice!! And you can go into tumbling classes to help you if you want! Hope this helps!
