From the Orthodox POV: Yes- you cannot help your friend decorate the tree. The bottom line is that the tree is part of the rituals of another religion, and as such a Jew is forbidden from involving themselves in the rituals of other religions.

No, of course it's not :) If you're happy to do it, then that's absolutely fine. I personally really enjoy it, because when it's finished and the lights are switched on, it just feels like Christmas! Go for it. Maybe she could help you with your Hanukkah celebrations too, then you both get to experience each other's traditions and cultures. Happy Christmas and Hanukkah to you both!

I'm Jewish and have had Christmas trees all decorated and stuff, so you're fine besides its not wrong at all. Happy decorating :)

Why would it be wrong? Your house mate could help with lighting the Menorah during Hanukkah, couldn't they? You could teach each other a little about the other's religion/culture. It's not bad. It's a learning experience.
