Losing it's allure? Are you kidding me. There is no other place on earth like Las Vegas.
You will never be bored in Las Vegas. Not only is it affordable, very luxurious and full of activities. You don't have to gamble or have a lot of money to have a great time.

For those of you who do not know what to do with themselves in Sin City, here is a list of free attractions.

All I can say is Vegas Baby!!

Its allure has certainly diminished for me. Gambling's now everywhere, so travel to Vegas sometimes feels like an unnecessary expense. The high-end hotels, high-end restaurants and high-end casinos are fun to look at/experience but after awhile they become old hat as more and more similar structures are built. Lastly, an industry built on separating one from one's money…ugh. I don't enjoy feeling like I'm nothing more than a donator for the casinos' bottom line. It also doesn't help that Vegas exacts ecological havoc on its environment. Stayed at Wynn and the toilet auto-flushed six times - is that prudent for a hotel located IN THE DESERT? Should Colorado River resources be diverted to Vegas so Wynn can over-flush toilets? I think not...

For many people, I think not, because so many people love to gamble and the shows. But, I was never a big Las Vegasphile myself because I don't gamble, don't drink, and actually don't really care about the shows. Lately, though I've been thinking about revisiting Las Vegas since they have such cheap trips there and I'd like to take a look around at what's new there.

To me, it is. It can seem like a lot of fun at night, but when the sun rises it is just a dirty eyesore. Now that people are becoming more aware of the environmental impact of a desert town that uses more water than almost anywhere else, not to mention the energy consumption & pollution it loses some of its luster.
A lot of people of this generation are not as enthralled by the glitz, the hookers, and the gambling as in the past. I think Vegas will be around and continue to attract tourists for many years but at some point they have to realize it just can't be sustained.

It's not losing it's allure to most people, It has to me, it's just gotten totally repetitve with the highend hotels/casinos all the same... same type restaurants in them/night clubs/stores/type tourists (mostly drunk grabby guys and bachorlette parties, yawn!!!)...Spent my friends birthday at Tao and it was too much, horrible service, too crowded, rude bouncers... and we were a bunch of fun, early 30's girls, who love going out... I can only handle Vegas for 2 days at a clip. If you don't go often I can see being "blinded" by the bells and whistles- I sadly can see right thru it at this point.

It never had any to begin with. But then I don't smoke, drink, or gamble, I hate hot weather, and second-&-third rate entertainers, and it's so noisy (there's even piped music on the sidewalks), so maybe I'm just a tad prejudiced. It seems to appeal to people with no taste and bad habits.

On the plus side, the heat is dry, it has a nice monorail system; and I do like the interior of the Venetian hotel.

To you possibly. To the rest of the world the answer is definitely not. Expect the number of hotel rooms to grow over the next decade.

It lost its appeal to me (and the rest of my adult family) 6 years ago when we all finally moved away. If I never visit LV again it will be fine with me!

No, not to me and the other people that crowd the streets every time I'm there.
