When I was pregnant with my 1st the midwife told me not to stand near the microwave when it was in use because of the radiation.

I have heard about it a long time ago. Some studies show microwave radiation is not good for you. Google it. It is like talking on the cellphone is bad due to radiation. Bottom line is, everything good always come with bad side affect. Personally, I wouldn't stand in front of the microwave. I try to use microwave to a minimal. Think of it this way. If its radiation is bad for you, would you eat the food that is being heated from it?

A long time ago i was told that radiation may leak out of the microwave oven, that's why you should never stand in front of it.
But personally i don't think that the microwave uses radiation as we know it, (it's not the sort that they make bombs with) but to be on the safe side i don't stand in front of it.
Also I can feel a draft coming from the microwave, so that's another reason that i stay clear. :-o

No. The radiation that could get away the oven is purely too low to pose any probability on your well being. A microwave could be risky to you in different strategies in spite of the undeniable fact that, like what happens with superheated water, in spite of the indisputable fact that this is going to in no way be a volatile source of radiation.

microwaves are limited that's why you don't get very big ovens so standing in front of one will not really harm you just don't put your face right up to it. and if it leaks the microwave leaks it more likely to burn you rather than give you radiation poisoning

Been told that if the mocrowave is in good order there should not be a problem. However, people with heart pacemakers are advised not to stand too close.

I love my microwave oven. It warms up my food. I didn't have cancer or have any health problems. I go to my doctor and regular basis and he never said anything bad about my health. Enough said.
HELPS ME IN ANY WAYS SO THERE IS IT NOT GOING TO KILL YOU. UNLESS YOU DON'T STOP SMOKING ALL THE CIGARS FROM GAS STATION AND WASTE YOUR LAST DOLLAR BUGGING FOR A PACK BEING A LOSER

I always do because generally im starving if im using the microwave, and so in haste of quick food! I stare at it because it needs to move faster!!! Why cant you do that? Never heard that, though im sure it cooks slower when you stare....

The theory is that some of the micro waves escape and can affect the human reproductive organs or can cause cancer,.. I don't think this has been proved but it is a matter of being prudent.
