I just don't get it.

1 + 3/7 = 10/7
3-.5= 2 1/2 = 5/2
so it's 10/7 divided by 5/2
when you divide fractions, you multiply by the reciprocal, so
10/7 x 2/5
20/35
4/7

(10/7) /(5/2) = 10/7 x 2/5 = 20/35 = 4/7

you plus those two and get 1 3/7 and 2 1/2
then make the fractions improper
then you times the resiprical (flip it)
then multiply
