He is hated because people think he thinks he's a very good player. He's not as good as the $$$ he makes would suggest,so I guess jealousy plays a role too.

How can anybody say that Lampard is irreplaceable?! We have performed as well without him, and can continue to do so.
Lampard looks better than he is from others hard work, he appears to play better for Chelsea than England because of his goal scoring rate, but how many of them came from penalties or the back of someone elses hard work.
When you´ve got Gerrard you don´t need Lampard getting in the way. So irreplaceable he´s not.
I think Lampard is hated by different people for different reasons, so your question doesn´t have a simple answer.

I don't hate anyone, even footballers playing for England. I am a Scottish fan. However, I do think that Frank Lampard is not quite as good a player as others who play in that position. But I certainly wouldn't boo him for that reason. I certainly have no idea why he is disliked. All I dislike about football is the way the players get inflated wages whilst the likes of us have to pay them. Lampard is a good player, he plays for one of the top teams in the country and as an Englishman, that in itself tells the story. They can't find a foreigner good enough to take his place. As for disliking players, the ones I dislike are those guilty of spitting at opponents and fans. But even the TV allow one of these prime television time, so obviously they don't agree with me. The fact that one player (English) spat at a fan of the opposing team, who was there with her grand-daughter, filled me with disgust. I have disliked this person ever since. Frank Lampard is not that kind of player, I don't dislike him and agree with you there. But then, I don't any footballer should be treated with that type of disrespect, even if they make mistakes. We all err at times and don't get booed,. so why should they? Sorry about rambling on, I just took the opportunity to get the other thing off my chest.

i am a man u fan and would never boo an england player but i think the reason for this is steven gerrard is proberbly the one of the top 3 midfielders in europe and cannot play with frank lampard. he tackles passes and scores IMPOTANT goals. he has better composure and better leadrship qualities, and when frank lampard plays all of these qualities are stiffled. the team should be built around players such as gerrard with lampard as the back up. the fans are not booing lampard directly but the descion to play him.

Because he has the same problem John Barnes had back in the day. For club he plays well and looks world class, but put the 3 lions on his chest and he turns into Bambi on ice.
To add to that, it is a PROVEN FACT that both he and Gerrard CANNOT play in the same team together. It's like playing two left backs together. One gets in the way of the other. Then to get around this, at times they would play Gerrard out of position to accomodate the lesser Lampard, which is like playing two left backs and one of them being shoe horned up front.
And finally, England seem to play bad as a team with Lampard in it since his passes always go astray, his shooting is 90% inaccurate and his work rate is very laboured. It's years of bad performances that have built up frustration in the England fans which is intensified when you see Fat Frank playing his heart out for Chavski but failing to show heart when representing the nation.

eI don't really know but I think it's pathetic after all it IS National game. The manager has selected him to play and the crowd and country should support him...like any of the other players.
We all want the right result at the end of the match what the hell does it matter if you like a player off the pitch...or not?
Interesting...... you never hear other nations behaving the same way...c'mon England fans let's show em!!

Say what you like...but the bottom line is Frank Lampard DOES deserve his place in the English team...if not who can replace him today! He may be a bit arrogant and maybe because of his attitude, fans booed him but like it or not he's made the grade to be IN

He's a really good player, he knows it, he also knows that he's not reaching his full potential at Chelsea which is why he wants to leave which is why he is being bood by supporters who if u asked me are not true and loyal supporters if they boo a team player

hmm, not sure if this has something to do with it but lampard does better in the league than when he's playing for england so i guess some ppl take that against him. they think the guy only plays well for the money. dunno if that's really the case tho. would rather give him the benefit of the doubt.

I really havent got a clue. The only thing I can think of is that the other team must be really jealous of his talent as a football player and that is coming from a die hard Manchester United Fan.
