red on one side hurts when i swallow, should i use salt and water?

Gargling with salt water helps, but just tastes horrible. If it continues to hurt go get it check. They can give you something to help soothe it.

Yea, gargle with warm water and a 1/2 teaspoon salt. Do it alot. Juice up, don't shower, rest inside, take a cold medicine .

you mean inflammation. and yes you should put hot ( not too hot) water in a glass, and pour some salt in with it, and gargle with it till the glass is empty several times a day. it'll help. if it worsens or doesn't go away in a few days go to the doctor....

You could have mumps, which is serious, as it can stop you from having children if it's left unattended to. Have you had an injection or jab to protect against mumps?
It could be glandular fever or tonsilitis, which is caught from kissing or drinking from the same drink as an infected person. Go and see your doctor as soon as possible, just in case it's serious!

no...salt and water might irritate it even more. you should see a doctor, and for the moment take Tylenol or something
