What do you think of the contrast between Nobel Peace Prize co-winner Al Gore and unpopular President Bush?

Why is the prize so seemingly embarrassing to the conservative Republicans? Should there be any connection at all?

It's embarrassing because it's a clue even *they* have to understand and respect. There's really no dissing the Nobel Peace Prize, especially one *shared* with ones professional colleagues (smart move on Mr. Gore's part).

And the clue is: We screwed up, *BIG TIME*. Or rather, that letting Big Oil shove *their boy* down our throats *twice* in 2000 and in 2004 was The Fairy Godmother of ALL Bad Ideas.

Sure, I bet some of the more herd-headed Media NeoCons are *going* to try to attack the Nobel Peace Prize (since Yassir Arafat *also* won the thing, and since Mr. Nobel *himself* was an arms dealer while he lived.) itself, but the truth of it is, people *know* Al Gore is not an Arafat. And they *know* that Big Oil screwed us all over, not just with the elections, but with New Orleans, and with *everything else* in the past eight years (Halliburton? check Iraq? check Blackwater? check Screwing up the economy? Checkity-check CHECK.).

This, more than anything this side of impeachment (which our spineless Congress refuses to do), just flat-out *tells it* that we've screwed up and not only have we *wasted* the past eight years....

We've screwed up American Progress *going back to Reagan* on the economy, on social issues, on everything. Really, once the Iraq mess is done, we are going to be *stuck* with the *exact same* kind of "stagnant inflation" mess we had to deal with in the 1970s. On an economic level it will be as if the last 30-plus *YEARS* of economic progress never happened.

Oh, but it will also be worse, because labor unions will be so weak, and because our social safety nets--our welfare programs, healthcare and public schools--are in such a sorry, underfunded state of ruin that *all* ordinary citizens will suffer much worse.

And of course, those Have Mores, those One Percenters and CEOs, they'll hardly give a ratsass. Really. They simply can't be bothered, they are so stuck believing their own hype, and their own Mythology (that society "Needs Billionaires"...no. We. DON'T.).

Trust me. We've screwed the pooch, and the Nobel Prize is the proof. America is screwed. Maybe Western Civilization is screwed too, and our *only* consolation will be that we *did it to ourselves*. We did.

The prize could be embarrassing to Dems. as a results of fact Gore is so for sure a phony. a extra ideal receipiant could be bill Gates, Warren Buffet, or Oprah . those human beings gave of themselves, their aspects, and tens of millions of greenbacks to extra ideal help human beings lots worse off than absolutely everyone can think of. the reality that they wer handed over of the working, and somebody like Al Gore, who does not know the reality, be it inconvenient or not, proves this prize, plus the oscar, emmy, and each and all the Hollywood celebrations, became in line with politics on my own.
