silent cry

There could be no more tomorrow,
When yesterday was just despair.
In the wishing hours so late,
Nothing much has seemed to even change.

The sky cracks open,
The rain comes pouring down.
This day has come to an end,
All my dreams now thrown away.

The rivers in my dark heart,
They run in blackest streams.
i've waited for the sun to rise,
The light that never came

No escape from my pain within,
No one hears my silent cry.
Away from all a distant dream,
I grasp for hope and the will to carry on.

Look down deep, what do you see,
A broken empty shell, down on bended knees.
How deep the river of my fate,
In the silence of the hours late.

thats the first poem that accutally describes the way i feel inside. Everyone knows me as a really happy, sacrastic type of person. But when i'm alone, or at home, I actually show my emotions. The more sensitive, depressed side.

Nice layout - good poem. Though would re-write the first verse..it repeats itself in a mundane way. 'Nothing much has changed' might seem more plausible.
Second verse: this day is at its end, All the dreams I ever had have strayed away.
Third verse: the rivers in my darkened heart all run in blackened streams, I wait until the sun does rise though its light will never come.

I have given a point of view - if I carry on it'll turn out a totally different poem. So it's best I don't. Keep up the writing!

Holy sad poem, Batman!! Although it is sad, I believe you very accurately captured the dark and dismal world that is depression; when it visits. Steve Earle recorded a song (written by the Proclaimers) called "My old friend the blues."

******************************************************
Just when every ray of hope is gone
I should've known that you would come along
I can't believe I ever doubted you
My old friend the blues

Another lonely night
In this old town
If sleep don't take me first
You'll come around
I know I can always count on you
My old friend the blues

Lovers leave and friends will let you down
You're the only sure thing that I've found
No matter what I do I'll never leave
My old friend the blues

Just let me hide my weary heart in you
My old friend the blues
**************************************************
I think the point to remember is that it's cyclical; meaning it may come but it always goes.

I htink its a very very good poem, i love it, Speccially the part where it says Noone hears my silent cry, i think its very poetic and very deep. I;'ve been trough lots of depressions and i kno how u feel, but i promise, it eventually leaves you, and u dont feel depressed anymore, Just find love, and even if it fails, and u end up getting hurt at least you kno u can feel so happy :P bye good luck

The guy who wrote this did so right after losing his four daughters in a ship wreck. Keep your chin up and don't give up. Don't give in to misery. You'll think me cheesy for saying so, but God loves you; He made you, and He has a plan for your life. Give Him a chance to perfect you.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

Refrain

Depression hovers
above, below, all around -
patiently waiting.

Your poem is very good.
