Odd question, but does anyone have an example of an act of kindness or cruelty that you've witnessed? Cruelty's very common, in school especially, but it'd be difficult to write a 1-2 page narrative on that and try to hide names as well. I thought about kindness, but I don't leave the house a lot and I haven't seen much either.

An act of kindness are simple gestures made without having to be asked such as helping the elderly carry their groceries to their car, giving donations to charities, giving food to the homeless, helping out at a volunteer center, taking in an unwanted pet, giving blood to the Red Cross, become a big brother or sister, etc.

Acts of cruelty I have seen are people walking near homeless people and laughing at them, pushing the elderly, kids trying to throw a firecracker at a puppy.

You can write a paper on cruelty without having to name anyone. It could be a people in general in school.

My neighbors are an elderly couple who have their 50+ year old daughter living with them. Recently the daughter had to have her leg amputated due to complications from diabetes. The entire neighborhood came together to help them. We took turns cooking meals and some of the more handy folk got together and built a wheelchair ramp to have ready for the daughters return. No one was paid for their help, we just do it!

Perhaps if you did leave your house more often you would get to know your neighbors and find out how much kindness is around in this world.
