I am concerned, mostly with the possibility that Turkey will become an ally of the Islamists and institute an official Muslim regime. Ataturk would turn over in his grave if they did that.
I understand that there have been problems between the Kurds and the national government in Turkey for years; just as there have been in Iraq and Iran. Amassing troops there is a step in the wrong direction, however.
I am not pleased that Turkey refuses to recognize the Armenian genocide almost 100 years ago; but since nobody responsible for it remains alive, I think we would be better occupied in encourage the moderates and secularists in Turkey, rather making an issue of an event that happened so long ago.
