Adding this after some hours :I have noticed that the stats will say for example: innings pitched. 6.2 or some fraction. Does that mean 5 and 2/3 innings ?

Add up all the innings, add up all Earned Runs, multiply the earned runs by 9, divide, and round

You multiply the amount of earned runs by 9 and divide by the amount of innings. The ERA is supposed to tell you on average how many runs the pitcher will give up per nine innings (that's why you multiply by 9)

For example: if a pitcher gives up 1 earned run while piching 1 inning he has a 9 ERA 1 run x 9 = 9 divide by 1 equals 9.00

If he gives up 1 earned run while piching 9 innings he has a 1 ERA 1 run x 9 = 9 divide by 9 equals 1.00

So a guy that has 1.something ERA is awesome because on average he will give up less than 2 runs per 9 innings

For your second question, yes. The .1 or .2 in a guys stats means he piched 1/3 or 2/3 of an inning

Multiply the number of earned runs times innings pitched, and divide that total by 9.

Take the Earned Runs x 9 / innings pitched.
