thank god they are one of my favorite flowers,,plus alot of my irises bloomed again thinking its spring cause its been unseasonally warm. Nice for now..not sure how I will feel in the spring.

Your Iris plants will be OK.
After the ground has frozen, you can mulch the root area with pine needles or weed-free straw, but don't cover the rhizomes. They need the sun to shine on them to keep them from rotting. Check your Irises during warm spells in the winter & cover up any roots that have heaved out of the ground as a result of successive freezes and thaws.

Make sure you remove the mulch in the spring, in late March, to allow air & sunlight to dry the soil surface.

You didn't, they will be just fine. Sometimes, they need a short haircut. lol

You didn't hurt them. Mulch them real good and they will be ok!
