I'm 13 years old, from Ontario, and I'm currently looking for a talent agent/school in my area. I looked into John Robert Powers and ProScout, but I found a lot of people saying that it was a bad choice, that they would rip me off, and not to go there. I was wondering if I should believe the people who say JRP and ProScout are mistakes, or if I should go ahead and audition for them. If not, do you know of any reliable agents/schools in the London/Toronto area that will represent me well and give me many oppertunities to break into the feild? Thank you so much! :)

You are right to ignore Powers and ProScout (SCAMS). But at 13 you may have the cart before the horse. Agents are not magicians waiting in their offices for inexperienced and untrained nobodies to walk in so they can transform them into stars. They are busy businessmen and women trying to get work for the talent they all ready have and are not in the least interested in anyone else unless that person has terrific qualifications. So the first thing you need are the qualifications which you get by doing all the school plays you can, taking professional lessons, and being in community plays and taking more professional classes, then whe you have developed terrific qualifications, you can submit to an agent for representation. This process takes several years.
