Did man really walk on the Moon or was it the ultimate camera trick, asks David Milne? The greater lunar lie. And if you are an avid Physics buff, you may want to validate (or refute) my calculation of g (acceleration due to gravitational force of a planet) based on the timings and speed of take-off and descent of the dust being kicked off in the Apollo 16 Lunar Rover video clip allegedly filmed in the "lunar environment." My calculation yielded 9.8 m/sec^2, which is the value of g for planet Earth. How about that for a revelation!

Although my wife's father performed fuel calculations for the original Apollo landing, I'll spare you that speech. Instead, I will encourage you to watch two programs. The first show is called Conspiracy Moon Landing that it currently showing on the National Geographic Channel and it pretty much obliterates all of the popular conspiracy theories.

I would also encourage you to watch a movie called Capricorn One. Made it 1978, it is a fictional story about a fake mission to Mars. Although it is a science fiction story, it is a good example of how utterly impossible it would be to fake a moon landing for any length of time.

12 men walked on the moon from 1969 to 1972 and we have neither the resources nor the technology to pull off that big of a hoax for so long. Hundreds of thousands of people have worked on the space program. It would be far easier to put someone on the moon than to try and fake it and keep it secret for nearly 40 years.

The landings came at a time when our space program was ultra competitive with the former Soviet Union. Remember how big of a deal it was when Sputnik was put into orbit? They had the technology to monitor our moon shots and transmissions. Don't you think they would have called us out if they had evidence that it was all fake?

Perhaps the most definitive proof of our trip to the moon is what we left behind. For the last 35+ years, scientists have been beaming lasers to the moon and measuring the return times. How are they doing this? The beams are reflected back by equipment left on the moon on at 3 different locations.

Case closed.

The flag does not flutter. It stands out like that because there is a horizontal bar along the top edge to hold it up, but it does not move at all except when the astronauts are holding the pole and shaking it. Anyone who spent a week looking at video should have noticed that. See the video in the source for example. You need QuickTime to view it. Notice how slowly the astronauts fall back to the ground when they jump. That is because of the low gravity. If it was just slow motion filming as the hoax believers say, then the astronauts arm and leg movements would be slow too, but they aren't. This shows it is not slow motion video. Also notice how the dust they kick up as they walk does not billow up in clouds or blow in the wind. Because there is no air. There is lots more video, and still pictures and hundreds of pages of information at the source where I got this video. See the second source.

It is all totally real.

Just goes to show that there is no upper age limit on stupidity. There are a couple of videos where the flag appears to be waving. It is also clear that it is fluttering and swinging because it is being handled by the astronauts. They are twisting it to get it into the lunar soil. There is no video which shows motion when the astronauts are away from it, and several videos showing a flag to be as steady as a rock once left alone.

It sticks out because they realized it would just hang limply, so a wire, like a hanger, was attached to the top of each flagpole to hold the flag out. Still photos make it look like it is waving, but there are examples of more than one photo, taken at different times, showing the same exact wrinkles in the fabric.

Of course, you could always believe that NASA went to great pains to set up a nice powerful fan to blow a flag in their hoax videos when most 8th grade students at the time knew there was no air on the moon. All the other so-called evidence of the hoax theorists is just as flimsy and sometimes, downright foolish

Cirrus, I have seen people say this would be settled when the Chinese get there, but I don't know why, since there is almost no chance that they would see the things we left unless they planned to land at one of sites. Do they?

Perhaps we shouldn't be so harsh toward those who believe this stuff. They think they are getting reliable information from the Discovery Channel. And unless they know a lot about this, it is easy to see how some slick pseudo-documentaries, magazine articles, and paperbacks could mislead them.

We did it. Three astronauts died for it. Screw the people who think they can score some bucks by pulling down their pants and dumping on so many talented, dedicated people and their remarkable achievement.

There is plenty of evidence that those who say the Apollo landing did not happen are at best wrong and at worst deliberately lying to sell cheap and nasty TV shows and books.

The "evidence" brought forward by these fools and cheats has been thoroughly refuted so many times that it can only be called lies.

If the Moon landings in 1969 and later had been faked thousands of scientists and radio experts around the world would have known straight away. Specially the Russians, but also Germans, French, Spanish, Australians, British, you name it.

In addition the Russians and possibly several other countries were perfectly capable of tracking the spacecraft part of the way to the Moon by radar. If the Apollo spacecraft had merely orbited the Earth they could have been detected by radar or even the naked eye depending on the height of the orbit.

In 1957, 50 years ago this month, I watched as the material sent into orbit by the then Soviet Union with Sputnik 1 passed over Australia at about 8pm. You could see it at night. Get into any sufficiently dark place on a clear night and you can see satellites passing over if you know where and when to look.

Not everyone who worked on Apollo was a US citizen, I know one Australian who was in on it and there were many more. Most of the staff of the ground stations in Australia were Australians, there were also ground stations in Spain. These hundreds of people owe no allegiance to the USA and it is not humanly possible that they would have kept a fraud quiet for 38 years.

Almost anyone who was good with tools and had a bit of money could build a suitable antenna and tune a suitable radio into the transmissions from the Moon. There is nothing secret about the construction of such antennas, I have a book on it right here. These antennas, even the simpler kind could detect if the strongest signal was not coming from at least the general direction of the Moon.

The astronauts brought back hundreds of pounds of Moon rocks which were analysed by scientists all over the world. Not all of them were US citizens either. If those rocks had been faked those scientists would have seen it. In any case, the Russians also returned Moon rocks to Earth in three unmanned probes and published the analysis results. The American samples were consistent with the Russian ones. These rocks are not "easily faked up in a lab" as isotopic content, microscopic structure and dozens of other properties were measured. You might get one or two things right, but the rest is beyond replication.

In addition, the ages that were determined for these rocks were (and still are) older than all rocks found on Earth except for meteorites. This assertion is nonsense.

The ground under the lander was not blasted to bits because the engines were throttled right back as the lander approached the surface. If they had been running full blast the lander would have risen, not fallen. However this may account for the fact that the lander's feet were not seen to sink into the ground as surface dust would have been blown away to some extent.

There is also the fact that the feet came straight down to the surface. The forces involved are in one direction only. The forces under the astronauts feet are in several directions as they walk. Forward as the foot comes down, downward as the man's weight is transferred from back to front and then backward as he takes the next step.

Who took the photos with two astronauts in them? Ever heard of a photographic tripod or a spot on some of the equipment to mount the camera? The men walked away, the clockwork timer in the camera then took the photograph after 30 or 60 or whatever seconds. You might not get such a feature on a cheap camera but virtually all better cameras have it and certainly the Hasselblads the astronauts used would have had it.

Only people utterly ignorant of mineralogy, basic physics, radio, photography and a host of other fairly commonplace fields could believe the drivel foisted on the public by these frauds and liars.

President Nixon. a Republican, began to cut NASA funding in 1968, the year before the first mission. The mission went ahead because the equipment had been built and the people had been employed and trained. The Apollo program was a Democrat project. Later the program came to an end because the US public lost interest, when that happened, funding dried up still further and NASA could not afford to send any more. No bucks, no Buck Rogers.

There is no good evidence that the Apollo missions were frauds. There is good evidence that the conspiracy is with those who say they were frauds, and I regard them as at best a cult, at worst as a criminal group.

well, I didn't go myself nor was I born yet so bear that in mind...

but, my grandfather designed the optics for the guidance and navigation computer on all the apollo missions (through 15 I believe), on contract to NASA working at the Charles Draper Lab at M.I.T. He has pictures standing next to the Saturn V in July, 1969 and witnessed the launch from the VIP area at K.S.C.

I hope he didn't make it all up.

I get so tired of this question appearing here. In order to perpetrate a hoax of this magnitude the 40,000 or so people involved in the Apollo project would all have to keep their mouth shut. Can you seriously believe that could happen? The flag fluttered because of good ol' inertia. Different parts of the flag accelerating at different rates You can see the same thing happen in a vacuum chamber.

The flag is fluttering because of a wire which is 'tied' to the flag. The landing is real. There are lots of evidence for you to look up. There had been independent confirmations.

perfectly reasonable explanation for why the flag was fluttering. it was all filmed outside. at night. yeah, they built a giant soundstage... outside... and the wind blew the flag.

all great special effects movies were shot outside. honest.
