One of the men who helped saved Western civilization from the nazis, made speeches against women's suffrage earlier in his career.

Now you do.

Despite the efforts of feminists to distort, misrepresent, and the CENSOR views which challenge theirs.

Uz, my point is that people who have held anti-feminist views, wrong as those are, have still sometimes made worthwhile contributions to society. but in another question, when I made this point, I was first SLANDERED, accused of equating feminism with nazism, then CENSORED. Apparently when you DO have facts on your side, some feminists can't tolerate that.

Agreed. he was a flawed human being. I don't even think he did "wise up" given the handling of Ireland.

But that doesn't change that every man, woman, and child who cherishes freedom owes him a debt of gratitude.

CARRIE, that's fair enough. If they want to draw that distinction, that's fine. But don't first SLANDER me by totally distorting what I said, then BELITTLE me by suggesting that Churchill never did anything anti-feminist and that I am silly to suggest that, then CENSOR me when the facts are on my side.

2007-10-13 07:38:50 · update #3

MANDY, It was YAHOO that deleted my response. Because feminists reported it. I said "idiot" and "liar", which many feminists have called me without being censored.

As for the misogyny charge, you're pathetic.

2007-10-13 07:40:30 · update #4

being angry when someone makes demeaning references to my genitalia does not mean hating women. Overreacting and acting like an idiot about it, which I did, does not mean hating women.

2007-10-13 07:45:24 · update #5

And if I hate women so much, why was I the only one who could step up and post a long list of books by respected women philosophers who weren't writing on feminism?

mandy, btw, once again you illustrate my point. I was accused of equating feminism with nazism, not of being a nazi. And that's what I said. I assume you CAN read, so this is just another cheap shot diversion.

2007-10-13 07:58:09 · update #7

Carrie, I appreciate that. For reasons you probably know, I am a bit too sensitive right now. I'll try to chill out. Thanks.

2007-10-13 08:08:43 · update #8

btw, since the original Q specified the last 100 years, I took it to be reasonable to assume she wasn't limiting "anti-feminist" to those who are formally described as such, which would be limited to the last 30 years at MOST.

2007-10-13 08:26:56 · update #9

teha, nope, I was implying no such thing.

This was a follow up to a questioner saying anti-feminists had never down anything in the last 100 years for women and minorities.

Nice cheap shot though:

"If you were a human being with a mind, you'd be capable of grasping the concept of people thinking for themselves, and not simply accepting the ideas of other people."

As someone else pointed out, he was a product of his time. Most Greek philosophers were extreme misogynists. Most holy texts are incredibly sexist. That doesn't mean that aside from that, those people were intelligent and did wonderful things.

I think what the other person was trying to ask was, "what have anti-feminists done, AS anti-feminists, using their anti-feminist ideology." She wasn't trying to say that men who have historically been against rights for women haven't done anything.

Does not surprise me in the slightest.
Churchill was an interesting man.
Politically mercurial.
Emotionally challenged by his wife.
Socially- A man who drank champagne from the time he rose in the morning until he went to sleep.
he may have challenged Women's suffrage but he has my vote.
Had it not been for him My Country would never have succeeded in The Second world War.
We would have totally floundered without the help of The United States of America also.
Times here then were so very bad.
All had it hard.
I was born in 1951, my brother 1948.
Our childhoods were difficult, but we had them because of the very brave, cantankerous stateman called Winston Churchill.
He can and never will be anything but Great in our minds.

He was a product of his time and it was a different world back then. People should not try to impose 21st century attitudes on someone who lived in the first half of the 20th century. We're not living in that world now and never will again.

Ummm think about the time, it was a little different then now. Why don't you calm down you are doing nothing but making yourself appear way too angry and crazy. Just like when you attacked poor mantis and threatened to kill her. You need to get some help.
I read the original question and she did not accuse anyone of nazi ism. Grow up.
You also deleted your response so you know you overstepped the lines of decency ..............once again. You must really hate women.

Uh, yes, he was a man of his time.

Are you trying to imply that I have to believe everything Churchill believed?

If you were a human being with a mind, you'd be capable of grasping the concept of people thinking for themselves, and not simply accepting the ideas of other people.

But I guess that's too much to ask....
