Support is very good from AVG. If you key is actually still valid, just send the key to support and they will send you a new key.

I use AVG, and I reinstalled Windows XP and all I did was send them my old key and request a new key.

I am quite sure that you download the full version and if you don't purchase in thirty days, the program becomes free. You just don't get the automatic updates. (So you update on a manual basis). Other then my antivirus from Beijing, China, http://www.filseclab.com I don't know of any antispyware program where their background monitor works. I just turn off the background monitors because it is a total waste of time and resources. Does not stop any spyware. You still have to scan to get rid of the spyware.

First, you will need to uninstall AVG, and then go to Grisoft's website and re-download the version of AVG you had. If you had free, you will not have to worry about license keys at all. If you had and re-downloaded the purchased version of AVG, simply enter the license key when the installing process asks you to, and things will go back to normal.

There's probably something you can click in the preferences that will take you to their website to pay for a new subscription.

However, I personally recommend getting a single Security Suite from a reliable vendor (like mcafee, norton, kaspersky, etc).. antivirus, firewall, antispyware all in one...

But if you already have antivirus and firewall from a reliable vendor... you could upgrade that product to include antispyware.

OR you could get Spybot S&D from http://www.safer-networking.org

up to you.
