Wow.
Here is a review from Amazon.com;
"Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. 'Be very still,' he whispered, as if I wasn't already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat."
As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he's a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.
Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward's sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer's writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of YA fiction. (Ages 12 and up) --Patty Campbell

An ordinary girl moves to the town her dad lives (her parents are divorced), and falls in love with the "perfect" guy who turns out to be something unexpected. They get together (sort of) then they have to go through some danger...
I say, it's a romance... so people like it. It's not so special but it's gotten really popular (partly because of the perfect guy stuff, who doesn't want to be the ordinary girl with the perfect guy in love with her). It's very readable, but surely there are greater books out there. Does it keep you interested? yes. Does it explore some great theme? not really. A "fun" book to read, and you will probably enjoy reading it, if you are okay with the whole girl-completely-in-love and helpless-alone thing.

Well, these people loved it:
"This was an awesome book, I can't wait until the second book comes out. I had a very difficult time putting this book down.
-Lisa, Fort Wayne, IN
This book is amazing. I read it in one day and found myself reading it several times after. I like how it's so believable and how the characters are so normal yet so very different. Bella is just so easy to relate to and Edward so easy to fall in love with.
-Desiree, Weber City, VA
Oh jeez...I read this book in what feels like ten minutes. I loved Bella so much she was so real. I've lived in Washington my whole life and the setting was just right too. I just thought it was amazing how Stephanie Meyer could incorporate fantasy with reality like that. I've read it a few times and am eagerly awaiting the sequel.
-Alexis, Seattle, WA
This book was amazing! I read books pretty fast and don't stop, just move on to the next one and keep going and going but with Twilight I was literally obsessed! I read it in one day but returned it to the library five days later! I kept re-reading it! I kept talking about it at school and wished Edward were mine! Bella was brave too but Edward was better! This was such a good book! I'm glad I read it.
-Anna, Thornhill, Ontario
This is the best love story I have ever read. It gives unimaginable depth to the meaning of love. You fall for the guy in the book as much and the girl does. This book is a HIGH recommendation. Vampires, love, death, etc. it's sequel, "New Moon", is also out.
-Ayesha, Villa Park, IL
This book has to be my favorite, well besides it's sequl "New Moon". I couldn't put it down. It's just so detailed that other books just don't seem as good after you read this one. I read it so fast and the sequl even faster. I think anyone who reads it will be in love with it and Edward...I hope a third one comes out it's just too good!!!
-Rayla, Mukilteo,WA
This book was too good. I didn't think I'd like it at first, because I'm not really into vampires, but this book was just like...whoa! I loved it. If you pick up this book, you will not put it down willingly until you finish it - guaranteed. READ IT!!!
-Latisha, Charlotte, NC
omg---I love this book!! Edward is the hottest thing to cross the face of the earth!! My friend told me about one section of the novel where Edward admits he watches Bella sleep at night, I wanted to read that section for myself....I soon ended up reading 8 pages after that....lol. I unfortunately fell victim to the drug called' can't put the book down.' I literally went everywhere with this book. Nobody was able to pry it from my fingers and within 2 days I was finished with it and begging my parents to take me to Borders to get the sequel, New Moon. This is a book that you will fall head over heels in love with and will not want to put it down for 1 second.
-Kari, Orlando,Fl
Twilight is the best book ever!!! I'm not a person thats really goes for vampire stories but this book completely changed my view. The characters are so realistic and Stephanie Meyer makes everything flow beautifully in the story. This book is possibly going to be made into a movie and I can't wait until it comes out, which wont be for at least 2 years :( .
-Kayla, Santa Rosa, CA
I LOVED this book. It was perfect for filling up my extra time. It was sooooooooooo good I read it in 5 hours!
-Marybelle , San Fransisco, CA
I loved this book. All the girls in my class are reading it! You have to read the second one, New Moon! It's so good! I can not wait for the third one to come out!
-Taylor, Alpharetta, GA"
Here are some reviews:
"From Publisher's Weekly's starred review: "The main draw here is Bella's infatuation with outsider Edward, the sense of danger inherent in their love, and Edward's inner struggle—a perfect metaphor for the sexual tension that accompanies adolescence. These will be familiar to nearly every teen, and will keep readers madly flipping the pages of Meyer's tantalizing debut."
From Becky Anderson, of Anderson's Bookshops: "What a totally amazing debut! Twilight is that rare story that combines suspense, desire, love and friendship with an awesome twist on the vampire genre! Both young adults and adults will be "sucked" into Edward's and Bella's world and beg for more, especially after they turn the last page. I can't wait for the next book!"
From Karen Rosenthal, Children's Department Manager for R.J. Julia Booksellers (printed in Publisher's Weekly's "Galley Talk"): "I'm not usually a vampire book reader, but I haven't read a book in a long time that had as much sexual tension and creepy terror throughout as Twilight by Stephenie Meyer [Little, Brown]. The main character is extremely compelling. The protagonist is so consumed with her crush on him that she blocks everything else, and the fact that he's a vampire adds a whole other level. It really is the perfect crossover book. It will appeal to kids who read fantasy and darker books, but also kids who like more realistic fiction like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and all those kids who read Gossip Girl... It's a riveting action book but thoughtful as well. Sometimes teen books can be plot-driven and the quality of the writing goes out the window, but this one has both."
