Chromium as the neutral atom has the following electron configuration:-
1s2,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p6,3d5,4s1. usually shortened to
[Ar] 3d5,4s1.
Chromium (Cr) has six oxidation states, 1 2,3,4,5 & 6.
However, Oxid'n states 3 & 6 are the commonest.
Electron Configuartion.
Oxid'n State 3 : [Ar], 3d3. - 'Ruby'(red) coloured ions.
Oxid'n State 6 ; [Ar], 3d0. - Yellow/Orange coloured ions.

The other oxidation states are too unstable to exist for very long.

Chromium has an electronic configuration of 4s^1 3d^5, due to the lower energy of the high spin configuration.

Chromium oxidation states vary. The most common oxidation states of chromium are +2, +3, and +6. The +3 state is the most stable.

before each and everything, write out the reaction equation. CH4 + O2 -> CO2 + H2O Balancing the equation, we get CH4 + 2O2 -> CO2 + 2H2O So a million mole of methane will react with 2 moles of oxygen to yield a million mole of carbon dioxide and 2 moles of water. Get the molecular weights of each and every atom, so as an social gathering in 2H2O, take a million + a million + 16 = 18 g/mol for water and then multiply by technique of two to get 36 g of water partaking contained in the reaction. Do a similar for the different molecules contained in the reaction. Then take one hundred divided by technique of grams of methane partaking in reaction that you found (that is going to be 16 g), then multiply this share by technique of the quantity of CO2 partaking contained in the reaction (that is going to be 40 4 g, so take (one hundred/16)*40 4, to get the grams of carbon dioxide that are made. remember, methane is the limiting reagent the following. Plug in diverse numbers with the intention to sparkling up differences in this situation as you opt for it. once you realize the best judgment, then you may be conscious it to any diverse variety of situation.
