and plundered Social Security to help fund the bush family S&L scandal (we're still paying on that one). G.W.Bush has outspent all previous administrations combined, including Reagan-Bush.

Now unless the debt fairy waves a wand and makes that towering debt somehow go away, it has to be paid off with tax money.

How can anybody but a complete and utter cretin accuse other politicians of favoring tax hikes when the current group of idiots has put the country in the poor-house?

wow !! are you brave !! insulting a republican saint. They'll defend him to your death. (just kidding ) ( not really ) Yes Ronald Reagan printed money hand over fist to pay for all his programs and not raise taxes. Why do you think a can of pop that cost 24 cents in '76 costs 75 cents today. Its not a growing economy it's more money in circulation making the money worth less. Republicans talk about tax and spend democrats , but republicans just spend and look for someone else to pay.

Reagan's successes can't be defined away as not something more desirable than the made from sturdy timing. doubtlessly transformative moments in heritage do not immediately convey about profound replace. Presidents Richard Nixon (1969-seventy 4) and Jimmy Carter (1977-80 one) both took workplace in circumstances corresponding to human beings that confronted Reagan, yet neither Nixon nor Carter possessed both the own air of secrecy or the compelling ideological imaginative and prescient to realign American politics like Reagan did. Please look at the entire picture! The only time in my entire life (I can remember when the Philippines was given its independence and when Gary Powers flew the X-1) that banks PAID YOU 20% interest was during the Carter Administration. The stock market (Dow Jones) was 800! During Reagan's administration, the Dow rose, inflation came under control, unemployment went down, we had RESPECT from our enemies (such as IRAN, IRAQ, TURKEY AND THE SOVIET UNION) and the economy was so much better.
And, he was the ONLY president in my entire life that did ANYTHING for the working poor: the Omnibus Tax Bill of 1986. Because of him, working poor do not have to pay income taxes.
So, no, he did not put the country into the poor house; he raised us up out of the poor house that Carter, Johnson and Kennedy put us into.

2. During the period of 1986 through 1988, revenues to the Treasury tripled in reaction to the tax cuts he worked through the Congress.
3. The S&L scandal came about through a change in law introduced by a Democratic Congressman from Florida (Congressman St. Germain) who chaired the committee of jurisdiction on that industry. The Garn-St. Germain Act deregulated the Savings and Loan industry.
3. The Congress managed to spend all of the increased revenues which flowed into the Treasury.
4. The first post-World War Two President who called for tax cuts to stimulate the economy and increase revenues to the Treasury was John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Reagan was a GOOD President, period.....

Bush Sr. was President when the S & L scandal happened, get your facts straight ! Jeb(you know, the Florida Governor) Bush was in charge of the S & L's then, under Bush Sr.

I actually think you should do more research before you start running off at the mouth(fingers in here), because you actually remind me of another asinine, named Rush Limbaugh......

Also, Reagan was for smaller government, and the budget under him did just fine, much like when under the Clinton Administration.
Under all Bush Administrations, spending sky-rocketed. The deficit soared, and the economy died. Sound familiar!!!!
I think both Bush Sr., and Bush Jr., should go down in history as the WORST family of Presidents in American history....

This spending grew the economy by three times over. (GNP went from $1 Trillion to $3 Trillion). He also peacefully ended to Cold War, freeing many tens of millions of former Eastern Bloc folks.

Reagan's ONLY major misstep was his piss poor handling of the AIDS crisis.

But on all other major marks, he did very well.

Impossible, we set a new record for both spending and income every single year. Going back to the 80's was chicken feed compared today.
