To add a little more. Saint-Saens set out to compose sonatas for all woodwind instruments in the last years of his long life. In the event, he only composed ones for the oboe and clarinet in addition to that for the bassoon. Interestingly enough, this was roughly contemporaneous with Nielsen who wanted to write concertos for all woodwind but only managed ones for flute and clarinet.
