My best friend, Kate, and I have so much fun when it's just the two of us, but when Kate and I hang out with our other friend, Jane, it's like I'm not there anymore because Kate and Jane are always talking, and I feel left out. I dont know what to do. I want to tell kate that I feel left out, but I don't know what she'll say. help!

Ok, one...been there. Two...my situation turned out bad. Kate may be your best friend, but it might be time to look for another friend that you can hang out with when she hangs out with Jane. Even better would be if you found somone who could be the fourth person in your group. Three is a popular number when it comes to famous friends, the three musketeers, monica pheobe and rachel, ect ect ect. However, in real liek it is hard to maintain good friendships with three in a group, because usually someone feels left out. The same usually happens with groups of five or seven. The three musketeers worked becasue they were guys and guys are stupid and these things dont matter. With rachel and monica from friends, tehy were best friends, and pheobe was content to live in her own world. She had her moments, but was generally the third wheen when it came to teh three girls. Listen, ive tried confronting my friend abotut somethign liek that...it was teh end of our good friendship. She thought iwas being jealous and needy. I am not sayig your friend would do teh same; however, it is a possibility. You can be best friends with her, but have a buffer person just in case she hangs out with jane. You caould also hang otu with jane alone and get to know her better and see how that works out...if the three of you then bond more .

Talk to Kate about it when Jane is not around, so she understands, but Jane doesn't get offended.

If she doesn't see it. Get to know Jane and see if you can be good friends with both of them and later ask Jane if she sees it happening.

That is the oldest problem in history...the 3 some dilemma...no matter how young or old, if there are 3 girls together, someone is left out..2 or 4, but not 3,,,so if it bothers you that much, stick to just you and Kate,..

You need to be honest with her and tell her how you feel. Try not to do this in a defensive way or that will just cause other problems. If she listens and hears you you should get some positive outcomes.

I think I've felt that way too. Just find some other friends you can hang out with as well.
