Subtract 1 from both sides. The equation is now -5x>10. Then divide by -5.
x>-2.

It's not an equation, it's an inequality, and you can't solve it you can only simplify it. Like this...

-5x+1>11
-5x>10
-x>2
x<-2

note that the direction of the inequality changes when you multiply the whole thing by a negative number. Another way to think of it is swapping the terms from one side to the other leaving the inequality pointing the same way, ie
-2>x

Pretend the greater than sign is just an equal sign and treat it as such.
First, isolate X. So subtract one from both sides.
You're left with -5x>10.
Next, divide negative five by both sides.
You're left with x<-2 (you have to switch the greater than sign to less than whenever you divide by a negative).
